Progress in Patna Blasts Investigations

Four persons were arrested by the police in the case of serial blasts at Patna in and around the venue of "Hoonkar Sabha" of Narendra Modi BJP's Prime Ministerial Candidate- Mohammad Imtiaz Ansari, Mohammad Tarique Ansari, Mohammad Toufique Ansari and Mohammad Noman.

They all belong to a village near Ranchi.  The leader of the operation is Mohammad Tahseen Akhtar who is an associate of Indian Mujahideen leader Yasin Bhatkal.  Akhtar belongs to Bihar.  He imparted training to those accused in improvised explosive devices.  He used to visit Ranchi and meet Imtiaz frequently.  The blast plan was made at Ranchi.

Police first arrested Imtiaz in Patna when he was trying to run away from the railway station.  Questioning him gave clues to the case.  Raiding his residence in the village gave the investigation a break.  Along with the photo of Osama Bin Laden and jihadi literature, electrical fuses, wires and a manual on how to make a pressure cooker bomb were found at his residence.  A pen drive and some CDs are also found with which the experts in the field are trying to investigate further.  Still 8 more persons involved in the Patna blasts are to be nabbed.

The case solved to this extent mainly because of the arrest of Imtiaz from Patna Railway Station when Imtiaz was trying to flee after the first blast in the toilet of Railway Station.  Six persons died in the serial blasts at Patna and 83 were injured.
