Gang rape in Bus Stand

It happened in Kothakota Bus Stand in Mahabubnagar. A woman resident of Kandukuru village in Addakula mandal in Mahabubnagar district went to Kurnool to see her ailing father getting treatment in a hospital there. While returning from Kurnool it was late night by the time she reached Kothakota to catch a bus to her village.

As she was waiting in the bus stand, as reported by her in the police station, a home guard on duty and two more men gang raped her in the bus stand.  As the news spread in the village, women organizations from the village and also Kothakota protested and demanded that the culprits be punished.

The District Superintendent of Police Nagendra Kumar said that the case is registered under Nirbhay Act and Constable Srinivasulu and Home Guard Nagendra were suspended.  He said that the case will be inquired by Vanaparti DSP Srinivasa Reddy.

It is a case of fence that is meant for safe guarding a plant eating the same plant.  Leaving the duty apart, how as a human being one can resort to such an act? It means they are not concerned about the time, place and willingness of the other person. They do not have any consideration for the state of mind of a person just returned from hospital.  Above all, they are not scared of the consequences once the urge came as a gushing need generated in their mind that rushed them to start a wrong doing.

Is it not the time to think of the remedy not by taking this kind of cases separately but taking in general why youth are resorting to such acts and where the society has gone wrong in making a principled and healthy society?
