Food Security Bill Passes Ultimately

The Food Security Bill 2013 was passed yesterday in the Parliament after a long debate and voting.  But the very force behind the Bill Sonia Gandhi could not witness its passing as she was ill and admitted in the hospital.  However, Prime Minsiter Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Susheel Kumar Shinde have attended through the process of its passing.

Sonia Gandhi called the Bill as “Empowerment Revolution” and said in her speech earlier in the Parliament that the Congress party kept its promise to “wipe out hunger and malnutrition” during the 2009 elections manifesto by introducing the Food Security Bill in the parliament which she said is a “big message” that India is capable of taking responsibility of the Citizens of India for the food security.

The Government has already made an ordinance in the month of July which now will be replaced with the Bill duly passed in the Parliament after six hours long discussion during which the opposition parties suggested some amendments according to which a good exercise was done by the Congress Party to make it passable in the Parliament.

This no doubt goes to the credit of Sonia Gandhi after her achievement in introducing and getting it passed in the Parliament.  Although the people of Seemandhra do not agree with it, the congress party also gives her another credit for stubbornly taking a decision on Telangana that was pending for long time.

The leaders of the Congress party were in a jubilant mood as it shows that it is paving the way for an easy win in the coming elections.
