We too want to split state

West Bengal is the next thorn for Congress. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has called for a bandh in Darjeeling to demand a separate state. Gorkhaland supporters have once again begun fighting for a separate state of Gorkhaland, pushing the state government into action.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged her government to take a strict stand on the protests, as agitators burnt government property. The state also ordered all government offices to remain open.

Situation in critical areas is predicted to worsen, with security forces and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha activists itching for a fight. The Mamata Banerjee government has deployed five companies of Central forces to Darjeeling, anticipating clashes.
