Godavari Swelling at Bhadrachalam

The height of Godavari waters at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district reached 43 feet in the night and the authorities announced first warning to the residents.  Yesterday the height was 38.6 feet which reached 43 by night.  Now as the height reached 48 feet, second round of warning is given to the residents and officials are alerted.

The Sub-Collector of Bhadrachalam Bharat Gupta asked all the officers concerned to be alert and review the situation continuously.   Bharat Gupta, ITDA PO Veera Pandyan and other officers are surveying the situation by going in the launches to have firsthand information of the situation.

Villages at Manuguru Singareni coal belt area are submerged in the flood waters because of the growing height of Godavari.  Coal production came to halt.  Connecting roads for many villages in Bhadrachalam division are totally drowned and flood waters entered into the houses at many places.

Floods are making havoc in other districts also.  Thousands of agricultural lands drowned in the floods in the State.
