VC Shukla Passed Away

Former Union Minister V.C.Shukla who was wounded in the Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh on 25th May passed away at Delhi hospital where he was getting medical treatment.  

Vidya Charan Shukla (84) was born on 2nd August 1929 at Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh.  V.C.Shukla was elected for the Parliament in 1957 and worked in the Cabinet of Indira Gandhi in 1966.  His father Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla was the first Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.  V.C.Shukla was elected nine times to the Parliament.

The veteran Congress leader V.C.Shukla was hit with 3 bullets and lost a lot of blood in the attack of the Maoists at Darbha while he was returning after a election rally at Sukuma.  

The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh commiserated V.C.Shukla's death.  Many congress leaders expressed their shock and condolences for the death of V.C.Shukla.

Mahendra Karma, founder of Salwa Judum, Congress leader Udai Mudaliar, 18 congress party workers and some security personnel were dead on the spot.  The death toll in the Maoist's ambush reached 29 with V.C.Shukla's death.
