VIPs to wear traditional attire at Tirumala

Tirumal Tirupati Devastanam has taken a decision that VIPs who visit Tirumala for Darshan should be allowed if they go for Darshan in traditional attire.

This will be observed from 15th of this month.  TTD wants that the devotees should come to the temple for the darshan of the deity Balaji Venkateswara Swamy clad in the Hindu traditional clothes.  But it will be introduced step by step starting with VIPs now.

In some of the famous South Indian Temples like Tiruvananthapuram, Guruvayurappa and others, temple authorities are very particular about the clothes worn by the devotees.  Rajiv Gandhi was not allowed in Krishna Temple to go with a bullet proof waist coat and a Kurta over it.  Sonia Gandhi is not allowed in some of the temples as she belongs to other religion.  Indira Gandhi was not allowed in Puri Jagannadha temple as she married Feroz Gandhi who was a Parsi.  There are many more temples that are very strict in these things.

Compared to those temples Tirumal Tirupati Devasthanams are very liberal.  They are only asking the devotees to wear Hindu traditional clothes.
