PLSV C-20 to put SARAL into orbit today

PSLV C-20 would be lifted off today at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota of Nellore district. President Pranab Mukherjee would be present at the launch. At 11 am, President would arrive at Chennai and from there he would reach Sriharikota in special helicopter. PSLV C-20 is all set to put SARAL satellite into orbit. SARAL is an Indo-French satellite, which has been aimed at oceanographic studies.

The 59 hours countdown, which was started on 6.56 AM on Saturday would come to an end as the polar satellite launch vehicle would soar in to sky at 5.56 pm today. ISRO actually had plans to launch SARAL in December itself, but had to postpone the same due to some technical issues. Notably, this is the 24th successful launch of PSLV.

PSLV C-20 is 668 kilograms weight and 44 metres tall. It would carry SARAL, which would carry SARAL and also other two mini satellites, which makes the mass of the weight (that this rocket would carry) to 229 tonnes.

Andhra Wishesh would follow up the launch of PSLV C-20 timely. So, do visit our site for continuous updates.
