Ruling Congress reeling under pressure

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday issued orders to the respective officials to ensure that there's uninterrupted power supply in Raebarely and Amethi constituencies. And wonder what's special about these constituencies that they were included in VVIP list? Well, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi represent these constituencies respectively. In fact, a prominent daily reported that the decision was taken after Sonia Gandhi approached Mulayam Singh Yadav (father of Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi MP) on Tuesday and asked him to do something to deal with the power crisis in Raebareli. So, Mulayam Singh telephoned Akhilesh Yadav to provide uninterrupted power supply to Raebareli and Amethi constituencies.

The UPA chairperson, who was so particular about her constituency, should have shown a pinch of mercy on Andhra Pradesh too, the state, which gave 31 Congress MP s. Already several places in AP are witnessing hours of power cuts and capital city Hyderabad is no exception. Hyderabad has three hours of daily power cut even today in rainy season. The political observers were wondering if farmers in AP were not eligible for receiving equal treatment from the Centre. On the other hand, opposition parties in the state have already launched their agitations against power cuts. Now that Sonia Gandhi's constituency gets top priority, the ruling Congress in the state is reeling under pressure.
