Villages to get Solar Power

The state government plans to equip villages, which are the most suffered in the recent power outages, with solar power. The Non-conventional Energy Sources Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NEDCAP) is charting a proposal to equip new villages with total Solar Power. And this would be covered by a state scheme  termed as  Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Scheme. The announcement was made by the Project Director M Ramamohan at Vijayawada.

As per the activities of the NEDCAP, Mr Ram informed that street lighting using solar power has been completed in 47 villages of the state. Each house in the villages has been equipped with a  solar-powered LED bulbs to save energy. As per the scheme the government provides 30 percent subsidy on purchases of solar water heaters and photovoltaic electrical equipment.

Power outages have been a common across the state. While the cities are bearing the brunt of three hour power outage, the Corporations have 5 hours and towns have 6 hours power cuts. The worst are the villages which do not have power for nearly 12 hours from 6 am – 6pm. This the plan envisaged by the government to tide over the crisis.

The most worst hit are the industries that are to get power for three days in a week, with Sunday considered as holiday. (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
