Laghu Darshan at Tirumala cancelled

Laghu Darshan at Tirumala on Tuesdays and Wednesday have been cancelled by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams keeping in view the summer rush. Laghu darshanam enables a devotee to have a glimpse of Lord Balaji from close. Usually people devotees will not be allowed to go further from Jaya Vijaya statues and two years ago TTD introduced laghu darshan and allowed devotees to enter one more room after jaya vijaya statues since there would not be much rush on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

The move was hailed by all the devotees, but then the TTD face ire from the devotees of Rs. 300 (special darshan) as they had to wait for longer hours due to laghu darshanam. There were even reports that devotees who purchased Rs. 300 tickets had to stand in queues for up to eight hours on these two days when laghu darsham was active. The special darshan-Rs.300 tickets would be issued till 5 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays hereafter since laghu darshan is cancelled. However, the temple authorities are in a plan to reintroduce laghu darshan after summer. (Phani)
