Former Naxal leader, poet Sivasagar passes away

The former Naxal leader and a noted poet Sivasagar passed away this morning in Vijayawada.  84-year old Sivasagar alias kambham Gnana Satyamurty was suffering from illness since some time.  He was staying with his son in Kandulapadu village in G. Konduru Mandal.

Sivasagar was one of the founding members of the Naxalite Movement and worked with Kondapalli Sitaramayya. Later in 1985 the People’s War Group gained prominence and expelled the leader.

He had written several literary works like 'Udyama Nelabaludu', 'Nelavanka', 'Nadustunna Charitra'. He has also contributed for Dalit literature. Another noted patronizer of the naxal moment and acclaimed ballad singer Gaddar looks up to the doyen as `his Guru.' (msn)
