Rayalaseema students’ fast enters second day

The fast by the Rayalaseema students at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding announcement of a special package for its development has entered the second day today.

Former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy, who visited the camp on the first day on Wednesday, today joined the students in undertaking the fast. Rayalaseema MPs Dr MV Mysoora Reddy and SPY Reddy also visited the camp and exhorted the students.

Speaking on the occasion, the MPs demanded the Centre to grant mineral-based industries to the Rayalaseema area and provide employment to the youth as the area was rich in minerals. They also demanded completion of all Jalayagnam projects with a time bound programme.

“We are only seeking funds for implementation of various projects and provide employment. We are not seeking any separate state,” said the fasting students. (J)
