Report on Acharya arrest submitted to CS

CBI joint director Mr VV Lakshminarayana held a 45-minute meeting with the Chief Secretary Mr Pankaj Dwivedi at the Secretariat in Hyderabad today.

The meeting was necessitated as the CBI had arrested senior IAS officer Mr BP Acharya in the APIIC-Emaar land scam on Monday and a report should be submitted to the Government. Lakshminarayana has reportedly handed over a report to Mr Dwivedi on the arrest of Acharya.

The local CBI boss told the Chief Secretary that he was still awaiting the sanction of the Centre to prosecute the suspended IAS officer Srilakshmi and a charge sheet would be submitted soon in the illegal mining case involving the jailed former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan reddy.

β€œA charge sheet in the Emaar case will be submitted soon,” he informed in his report to the Government.

Later, Lakshminarayana told journalists the assessment report on the value of the Lotus Pond residence of the YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy has not yet reached him. β€œIt may take some more days,” he told a questioner.

He also denied his men have been resorting to third degree measures to bring out information from the accused in the Emaar scam. (JUBS)
