YSR Cong not to contest T by-polls

Aimed at avoiding the division of pro-Telangana votes to the maximum extent possible in the forthcoming by elections in the Telangana region, YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan reddy announced that his party would not put up candidates in the by-polls.

By taking such a decision, Jagan wanted to trouble the congress candidates in the by polls as the pro-TRS voters would solidly back the party and improve its chances of scoring victories. In fact, Jagan also wants to see a straight fight between the congress and the TRS candidates in the by polls to boost up the victory of the TRS candidates.

Keeping this mind, YSR Congress party leaders have also demanded the TDP’s Telangana Forum leaders to ask their party president Chandrababu Naidu not to put up candidates in the by polls.

Jagan, in an open announcement, said that he took the decision to respect the Telangana sentiment but his main is to ensure the defeat of congress candidates and corner the TDP leadership on the issue of Telangana.

Since Chandrababu Naidu has announced that he is not against formation of Telangana state, the decision of Jagan would put the TDP leadership to embarrassment.

Congress wants as many candidates as possible in the by poll fray as it could lead to division among Telangana voters and improve its chances of winning.  (JUBS)
