Efforts on to tarnish my image: Botsa

Aggrieved by media reports that he was controlling liquor syndicates, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana disclosed today that he had requested the CM Kirankumar reddy to order probe into the liquor syndicate scam by a sitting judge of the state high court or by the CBI.

Denying reports that he owned liquor syndicates, Botsa said his family owned 27 per cent share in 31 liquor shops and asked his family members to quit the liquor business if they had violated rules governing the liquor sales.

Confirming reports he had met Kirankumar three days ago and handed over a letter seeking probe into the issue by a sitting judge or CBI, Botsa said efforts were on by some people to tarnish his image in the back drop of ACB raids on liquor syndicates.

“I have to make things clear to the public and a thorough probe will bring out the truth,” he told journalists in Hyderabad. “Like TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, I will not go to court for a stay and I will face the probe courageously,” said Botsa assertively.

Botsa said that the media has been crying hoarse over liquor syndicate scam for the last ten days. “The government has provided a toll free number and if any shop sells liquor above the MRP, complaints can be lodged with the number,” he said.

Botsa alleged that 50 per cent of the liquor syndicates are controlled by the TDP leaders and a thorough probe only could bring out the truth. (JUBS)
