Kamareddy TDP MLA of Nizamabad district, Mr Gampa Govardhan, who held a meeting with the TRS president K. Chandrasekhara rao in Telangana Bhavan three days ago, today quit the Telugu Desam Party.
He sent his letter of resignation from the party through fax to the party headquarters in Hyderabad and told journalists he would join the TRS in the presence of KCR this evening.
Govardhan said that he had resigned from the party on his own for the sake of Telangana and there was no pressure on him from any side or any one. “I am fed up with the two-eyed theory of Chandrababu and he didn’t state the stance of the party on the Telangana issue even in the internal party meetings. Therefore I have decided to quit both the party and the assembly as per the wishes of my supporters in the constituency,” he said.
Blaming Chandrababu for the present situation in the state, Govardhan said he would meet the speaker and hand over the resignation letter personally to him. He also requested the other TDP leaders to think over the issue and come out of the party in support of the Telangana issue.
