Surekha, Satyavathi quit for T state

SurekhaSatyawathiCongress MLAs, Konda Surekha and Kunja Satyavathi, owing allegiance to the YSR Congress party President Mr YS Jaganmohan reddy, today submitted their resignations and said they resigned in support of the mass general strike intended to achieve Telangana state.

Both of them first reached the martyrs’ memorial at Gunpark with their supporters and paid tributes to the Telangana martyrs. Then they led a Padayatra to the assembly. As the Speaker Mr Nadendla Manohar was not present in his office, they met the assembly secretary Mr Sadaram and handed over their resignations to him.

“Jayasudha didn’t turn up for submitting her resignation as her mother was indisposed,” they told journalists when asked about the absence of the actress. However, Jayasudha personally declared this morning that she was not going to resign in the present circumstances and described the resignations by pro-Jagan MLAs as a drama.

The resignations of these MLAs have now become controversial as they said they resigned for the sake of Telangana. They didn’t resign earlier along with 26 others who submitted their resignation letters in support of Jagan. “We had resigned along with others long ago for Telangana but the Speaker has not yet informed us of his decision. So, there is no need for us to quit again now along with 26 others,” they declared then, despite the fact that the Speaker had already rejected their resignations.
