Eng colleges worried over lack of admissions

EmcetMany engineering colleges in AP may soon face closure due to lack of admissions. In the just concluded first phase of EAMCET counseling this year, 1, 33,521 students were allotted seats but only 121781 students reported for admissions. 11,740 students didn’t even contact the authorities.

With this, the number of vacant seats in the engineering colleges in the state has gone up to 70,002 seats in the first phase. Already, 72,500 students had skipped the counseling altogether despite securing qualifying marks in EAMCET.

With a view to fill up the seats, the AP State Council of Higher Education is conducting the second phase of counseling from September 5. But officials have their own doubts on filling up the seats.
