T, SA intellectuals discuss division, aftermath

Seema Andhra intellectuals, Telangana intellectuals, discussion on division and its aftermathIn a welcome development on Sunday, some intellectuals of both Telangana and Seema Andhra areas met in Hyderabad and discussed the possibilities of dividing the state and its fallout on several fields.

The meeting, held without any publicity, was attended by Telangana JAC chairman Professor Kodanda ram, Telangana state theoretician Professor Jayasankar and TRS MLA Mr Harish Rao on behalf of Telangana.

Mr. Chalasani Srinivas of Andhra intellectuals’ Forum, Professors Rama Krishna Raju, Krishnamohan reddy and Ramachandraiah besides irrigation expert Cherukuri Veeraiah represented the Seema Andhra intellectuals in the discussions.
 
Both sides agreed with the view that the Telugu people should be one and united mentally even after the state is divided into two. The status of Hyderabad, consumption of water resources, employment opportunities and the status of present employees, development of Telugu language and related issues were discussed in the meeting in a friendly manner.

A different view that Hyderabad should be a permanent capital for the state of Telangana and it should also continue to be the state capital for Seema Andhra for the next 15 years after the division was expressed in the meeting but all expressed doubts whether it would be acceptable to the Telangana people.

The intellectuals also agreed with the view that those employees who wanted to stay in Hyderabad after the division should be allowed to continue in their positions for another ten years.

The intellectuals of both the sides are of the opinion that there won’t be a solution to the problem unless and until the politicians come together for solving the issue. They wanted to meet again at on a mutually agreed date.
