T area Vedic pundits to conduct TRS Yagam

yagnam-trsThe TRS, which is conducting Maha Chandi Yagam from April 14 seeking God’s blessings for a speedy division of the state and formation of Telangana, has decided to engage the services of Vedic pundits of Telangana region only for the purpose.

The 3-day Yagam will now see the participation of 68 Vedic pundits hailing from various districts in the Telangana. This is quite contrary to the earlier practices of TRS leadership which brought Vedic scholars from four corners of the state for conducting Chandi Yagams in the past.

Maha Chandi Yagam, the highest Vedic ritual for propitiating the Hindu Gods, is being organized at a TRS leader’s farm house on the outskirts of the city.

The Yagam will now be conducted by pundits led by V Damodar Sharma, the eminent Vedic scholar of the T region hailing from Manthani area of Karimnagar district. Party leaders said the decision to engage the services of T region scholars exclusively was taken following criticism from certain quarters that Telangana was not formed till now despite the conduct of Yagams many a time with the participation of Vedic scholars belonging to all areas of the state.

“We have nothing against the Vedic pundits of Seema Andhra,” they hastened to add.
