ESL Narasimhan crossing Lakshmana Rekha?

Governor ESL Narasimhan meeting the political leaders in Delhi has been creating uproar in the political circles. While Governor backed his move and questioned the media to enumerate the difference between politics and the Constitution (when one of the media persons questioned him that there had been allegations that Governor was apparently showing interest in politics), political leaders continue to question as to why a Governor has to meet political big wigs. A special report!

ESL Narasimhan meeting prime minister, home minister and other ministers at the Centre is not a surprising or a shocking thing to the people of Andhra Pradesh and to the political leaders of this state. However, the latest Governor's meeting has raised many speculations among political leaders. They have found fault with Governor for allegedly meeting political party heads. It may be noted that Governor met AICC supremo Sonia Gandhi and AICC political observer to Andhra Pradesh, Vayalar Ravi on Thursday. In the wake of this act, several people, including the media, expressed several doubts. In fact, media's questions to the Governor this morning makes it evident that there were many apprehensions regarding Governor's tour.

Governor was behaving like a political personality, these were the allegations/statements by CPI state secretary Narayana. Is he really behaving like a political personality? It's a million dollar question, which has actually been debated at various bus stops and chai shops. So far people, at least in Andhra Pradesh, have never seen a Governor moving to Delhi so frequently and meeting political decision makers. And that could probably one of the reasons behind so many apprehensions, debates and questions.

When the media asked the Governor as to why he was not acting on the prosecution file of minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, Governor replied as to what's so urgent in that. This very answer apparently irked many people including Narayana. Notably, Narayana has said that Governor was crossing Lakshmana Rekha (a term used to stress when someone crosses limits). On the other hand, his meeting has also gained prominence in the wake of all party meeting, which is round the corner. It looks like Centre was also taking the opinion of Governor in some key matters pertaining to the state. Whatever it might be, this is the first of the kind wherein Governor came under spotlight for meeting political big wigs.
