$5,500 for the costliest cocktail in the world

Sommeliers, the rich ones, have more reason to clank their stemware as there is a new contender for the world's costliest cocktail made. This cocktail by Salvatore Calabrese is said to have ingredients as old as the French Revolution. Salvatore has announced that this is the world's costliest cocktail but the Guinness World Records team is yet to authenticate the claim.

cocktail1The cocktail, Salvatore's Legacy, by Salvatore Calabrese uses four ingredients: a 1778 Clos de Griffier Vieux Cognac, a 1770 Kummel liqueur, a circa-1860 Dubb Orange Curacao and two dashes of Angostura bitters dating from around 1900.

The attempt was made at the Playboy Club London, at the Salvatore's Calabrese's bar in Mayfair, Central London according to Skynews.

The attempt was to be originally made back in July but he accidentally smashed a bottle of one of the ingredients and the dreams of a World Record were postponed.

"I was devastated when my bottle smashed and thought my dream of breaking the world record was over, but thankfully it has all worked out and nothing will stop me now," Salvatore said.

Currently the record is held by a cocktail that is being served at the Skyview Bar of Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates which costs £3,766.52 or 27,321 United Arab Emirates dirham.

GWR has confirmed that they had received the claim for the record and responded that the verification would be done after they send the evidence within three days.
