Prestigeous institute that gives bachelors degree in engineering/technology, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur branch has geared up to set up its first ever office outside India. This is for the first time for IIT s to have office off shores. The new office is likely to come up in New York.

The officials of IIT Kanpur told Andhra Wishesh that this office is predominantly aimed at building relations, fund raising and even collaborating with other institutions for exchanging the knowledge. So, it looks like students enrolling into IIT Kanpur will now be having option to enrol into twin programme courses wherein one or two year or even internship would be provided on foreign land at a foreign university.

The eminent scholars have applauded this move of IIT Kanpur and said that other institutions and universities in the country should open up their offices outside India and enter into collaboration with foreign institutions. The new office of IIT-K in New York is expect to start functioning sometime in February next year.
