CIDCO asks government to remove restrictions in the Intl airport region

City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has requested the government to remove the restrictions of clearance for constructions of building up to 75 meter height in and around the Navi Mumbai International Airport region. CIDCO is the nodal agency for the constructions around the new proposed site of international airport.

The power for the same presently rests with the civil aviation department which had partnered with CIDCO in the development of the project. "We should be given powers to clear buildings up to 75 meters of height and the height beyond that can be decided by the civil aviation department," an official from CIDCO said requesting the power to provide clearance.

Prithviraj Chavan, the Chief Minister and Pramod Hindurao, Cidco Chairman had informed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the progress that they are making in the Rs 14,000 crore  project which would be layed out on an area that sprawls over 2000 hectares of land. The present laws as per the civil aviation department are strict for all taller buildings in and around the airports that fall within a distance of 9- 20 km radius.

CIDCO has also made efforts to hasten the bidding process by preparing the bid draft for the approval by the Project Monitoring Committee of GoM and civil aviation ministry . However it has not been approved yet.
