CBI to give Rs 1 lakh cash reward for potential info regarding Assam violence

On Saturday, CBI has announced a cash reward of Rs 1 Lakh if anyone could provide reliable information regarding the identities of those involved in the Assam violence which could lead to their arrest.

A special team has also been organized to investigate the Assam violence cases of violence which were observed in at least three districts and were related to the ethnic riots between Muslims and Bodos.
CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said "Any information, photograph or audio-video clip which could be held in identification or arrest of miscreants involved in riots would be given a cash reward of up to Rs 1 lakh".
Inform the special helpline telephone numbers 08811099997 and 08811099996 about the information which could be important in the case. The CBI has promised that they would conceal the identities of the informers so they would not be targeted.
CBI has also found videos of the ethnic attacks on a hostel at Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar which were procured from news channels and people who were shooting on cellphones.
Material evidence from the sites that were involved in the violence is also being collected.
The CFSL team which has reached the sites where these incidents took place has started collecting evidence from the places of occurrence, the sources said.
A team has been constituted headed by two DIGs for investigating seven violence cases which were registered lower Assam's districts pf Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri.

The violence registered in the state had seen 78 people killed and over 4 lakh people displaced from their homes. The ethinic clashes have disrupted the lives of several people hailing from the North East, all over the nation with the new rumors spread by the bulk SMS.
