Woman attacks husband for property, gets arrested

Police on Sunday had arrested a 37 year old woman by the Market Yard Police station after she had brutally attacked her husband for property. The man was rescued from his home on Sunday where he appeared to be inflicted by serious injuries, cuts and burns.

The police who were suspicious after they observed bloodstains in his shop in the Market Yard and they headed straight to his home where they found him with several injuries on the leg, deep cuts in the fingers and burns too. His wife had tied him with a rope and then beat him mercilessly. The arrested woman was identified as Shobha Sanjay Talekar, a resident of Katraj. She had also manhandled him at his shop where he often stayed back in fear of violence against him.

She demanded him that all the property, including the flat, should be written in her name, he said. On Saturday night as he stayed back at the shop Shobha had visited the place to raise the issue of the property again. She had assaulted him with a knife and then beat him.

Her 13 year old son was an accomplice too. The mother and the son tied him up and then proceeded to beat him to pulp. The police then helped him in the morning and took him to the hospital immediately.

Sanjay Talekar is now recovering in the hospital while his wife had been arrested under Section 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the IPC. The police also suspect another accomplice in the incident as the woman herself couldn’t have caused the damage alone. Sanjay had not revealed any name but the police are still trying to find out.
