Monsoon session of Parliament from today

The monsoon session of Parliament begins on today. Opposition parties are reportedly gearing up for taking on the UPA government over several issues including inflation, drought, Assam clashes and price rise.  The sources said ruckus might take place in Lok Sabha due to the apparent heated debate on Assam clashes, which so far claimed 70 lives.

It has to be mentioned here that BJP senior leader Arun Jaitley said  BJP was going to highlight Assam clashes and held Congress responsible for the entire episode. He said Congress tried to change the demography of the state, which according to him triggered clashes.

On the other hand, UPA wants to leave no stone unturned, said sources. But still by owing to the demands of Andhra Pradesh, the prime minister Manmohan Singh cancelled the allotment of KG (Krishna Godavari) basin gas to Maharashtra. And this move, which apparently irked political fraternity in Maharashtra, is likely to take up the matter seriously.

Notably, this is the first ever session of Parliament wherein UPA's trouble shooter Pranab Mukherjee would not be found. Who will defend UPA's move strategically in the house has become an interesting debate among political circles.
