Four girl babies killed by deliberate parents

Four girl babies were killed deliberately by parents in Rajasthan. In spite of the growing outcry for gender disparity the girl child is still considered as a burden, in some parts of the country. The gruesome incident was recorded by Police on Wednesday, at Jaisalmer. Four suspected cases of female infanticide have been reported in a span of ten days in different areas in Jaisalmer. And authorities claim that it was a deliberate attempt by the parents. Police suspected cases of newborn girls being starved to death and deprived of medicines by parents.

Jaisalmer's Superintendent of Police (SP) Mamta Bishnoi expressed that in all the cases the babies died of starvation or improper medication. "A man was arrested for carelessness in treatment of a newborn girl in a village this week, while three other matters are being investigated and prima facie, it seems that parents deliberately did not care for the infants," the officer said.

The whole country has been witnessing a down ward trend in the eves population across the country and the worst is in Rajasthan were it states that for every 1000 men only 883 women were available in teh 0-6 years group.  An alarming sign that needs to be checked and corrected.
