Indian Coast Guard and the Navy were put on high alert today as fishermen sighted a ship making suspicious movements off the Mumbai coast and reported the matter to the authorities.

“The ship was seen moving around in the sea between the Juhu beach and Madh Island by our fishermen and they have reported to us,” said a senior officer in the Coast Guard.

The authorities have immediately dispatched a Coast Guard ship to the area to find out the identity and intentions of the ship. Indian Naval authorities are assisting the Coast Guard in the operation.

This was the third ship spotted in suspicious movements in the Mumbai waters by the Indian fishermen and authorities. Earlier, two abandoned ships were found on the Mumbai coast and the intelligence agencies are trying to collect information about the two.
