Yeddy bail plea adjourned to Oct 20

YaddurappaThe Karnataka High Court today adjourned to Oct 20 hearing on the interim bail plea of former chief minister Mr. BS Yeddyurappa arrested by the Lokayukta police in a case relating to the de-notification of lands in and around Bangalore city during his regime.

Mr Yeddyurappa, arrested in the case four days ago, was admitted to the state-run Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology for high blood pressure and chest pain and the doctors said he would be discharged by this evening.

Bangalore based lawyer Mr Sirajin Basha filed five complaints against Yeddyurappa and his family members alleging that the de- notification was illegal and the former chief minister and his family members had resorted to corruption in the transactions.

Justice B.V. Pinto of the high court had originally given 20 days time to the petitioner to file his objections on the interim bail petitions of Yeddyurappa. But counsel for the former chief minister Mr Ravi B. Naik objected to this saying 20 days is too long a period for filing objections. Then the court said the next hearing would be on Oct 20.

The Lokayukta court had earlier remanded Mr. Yeddyurappa to judicial custody till October 22.
