Veerappan movie starts off with a brutal killing of the police officers. The movie follows the narration of STF officer Kannan (Sachin Joshi), who handles the responsibility of tracing Veerappan. After several attempts that failed, Kannan targets Muthulakshmi (Usha Jadhav), the wife of Veerappan. He seeks the help of Priya (Lisa Ray) in trapping Muthulakshmi. The rest of the film is how Veerappan falls in the trap of the officials and the consequences that follow later.
Veerappan’s first half is realistic and is interesting. The life style of the deadly criminal is dealt well. The locations give a lively feeling, making one relate to every scene in the film, especially those in the forests. The entire first half of Veerappan is gripping, with an interesting interval bang.
Though in the second half, the movie dips in parts in the beginning, the pace has been carried well in the pre-climax, with the convincing scenes leading to the climax. On the whole, Veerappan entertains the hardcore fans of RGV well, who can relate to his style of film making.
Sandeep Bharadwaj as Veerappan is perfect. His extravagant performance be it in the body language, terrifying looks, aggressive nature goes well with the audience. Sachin Joshi has got a challenging role, he excelled as an STF officer. Usha Jadhav gave her best to the film and Lisa Ray did a decent job in the second half, rather than the first.
Inspired from the real life incidents of cold blooded criminal Veerappan, the story is framed well, making it more gripping with the screenplay and the dialogues.
The background score elevates the film and the cinematography is on the top notch. The production values have been grand enough and the editing has been crisp. Ram Gopal Varma impresses the audience big time with his extraordinary narration skills throughout.
Veerappan Final Word
The liveliness in the scenes narration, with the top notch direction of RGV, makes Veerappan, a must watch.
