Director Shankar, apart from his direction skills, is famous for producing the films that win critical acclaim. Best example is his film ‘Premiste’, that was a superhit film in Tamil, dubbed in Telugu. Even ‘Vaishali’ is a dubbed version of Tamil film ‘Eeram’, that was a block buster hit, dubbed in telugu as ‘Vaishali’ and released today. Here is the Movie’s review;
Story:
The movie Begins, on Vaishali(Sindu Menon) committing suicide by drowning herself in the Bath tub. ACP Vasudev, aka Vasu (Adi), takes up this case. Vasu is very confident that this cannot be a murder as he knows Vaishali. Vaishali and Vasu are ex – lovers. While investigating the case more deaths occur in the apartment, where ‘Vaishali’ found dead. The climax opens up with a shocking truth about the reason behind all these deaths.
Analysis:
‘Vaishali’ is a Horror/thriller genre. We can connect the film with the incident in ‘Ramayana’. In one instance, the director himself claims that ‘Vaishali’ is a modern Seta, who sacrifices her life to prove her chastity.
The film is worth watching, as the screenplay and take off of every situation is impressive. The flash back seems to be a bit lengthy. There are two melodious songs in the film, composed by Thaman.S, that also are impressive. The Director’s effort has to be appreciated as he succeeded in holding the audience in the Theater, till the end.
Performances:
Hero Adi, who made his debut as a Hero in a Telugu film ‘Oka Vichtram’, has long way to go in Tamil film Industry. He is a perfect combo of good looks and acting skills. Sindu Menon as ‘Vaishali’ did her best in the film. Her ‘Eyes’ talk more in the film. Rest of the Actors, Srikanth and Saranya Mohan, did their best in the film. Rest of all supporting characters was up to the mark.
Technicalities:
Since, ‘Vaishali’ is a Dubbed film, Shashank Vennelakanti has to be appreciated for his Dialogues that made the audience to experience the nativity. Apart from Thaman.S music and back ground score, excellent Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa is a Major asset for the film. Director of the film, Arivazhagan (Director Shanker’s assistant), proved to be a successful Director.
Final Word: If you are a kind of audience who would welcome and appreciate a film with of a experimental jorner, then ‘Vaishali’ will definitely entertain you.
