Recently, Mahesh traveled to Germany to explore cutting-edge technology for the film and also to work on preparing his physique for the role. While Rajamouli was concerned about securing Mahesh's dates for a period of 1-2 years, the superstar reportedly assured the director that he would be available for up to 3 years if needed. Mahesh's commitment to delivering the best possible outcome in both their careers impressed Rajamouli. Normally, during this time Mahesh would complete three movies, so Rajamouli was taken aback by the extensive time investment Mahesh was willing to make for this project. As a result, Rajamouli is said to have decided to make Mahesh a partner in the film rather than paying him a regular remuneration, according to sources.

Although KL Narayana is producing the film, Rajamouli is said to have the final say on budget and finance-related decisions. It was Rajamouli's suggestion that Mahesh advised him not to pay a single penny until the film is completed. Mahesh did not want the burden of his own paycheck to rest on the producer while making a film of such a grand scale. As a result, Mahesh will now officially be listed as a producer of the film as well.
