Telangana Government To Change Name Of State Film Award

The Telangana government, after the bifurcation, is all set to change the name of its State Film Award.

According to the reports, the unified AP government used to give Nandi Awards to the Telugu feature films. Since 2011, the new Telangana government had chose to hold the awards. However, after a long consultation, both the states has agreed to give different awards separately.

While the AP government will continue with the presentation of Nandi Awards, the Telugu government has reportedly be presenting the Simha Award. The decision has been taken by a special committee, which was constituted for finalization of the name.

Although there is no official announcement on the same, the Telangana chief minister is K Chandrasekhar Rao will be announcing the decision soon, according to the reports. Additionally, awards on the names of Telanfana film legends such as Karthi Kantha Rao, Paidi Jayaraj, Prabhakar Reddy, Dasrathi Krishnamacharya, music director Chakri will also be given.

Both the government are starting to present the award to the acclaimed Telugu films and the artistes in March-April period from the next year.
