In addition to the sheer beauty and grace in acting Sridevi and Vijayanthimala have another thing in common?  That is their date of birth.

Sridevi who was born on 13th August 1963 is celebrating her 50th birthday today.  Sridevi Ayyappan became Sridevi Kapoor in 1996 after marrying Boney Kapoor.  She started facing the camera since she was a child of 4 years and acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi and won a No.1 heroine title in India.

Sridevi who actively ruled the screen till 1976 again hit the screens with the same magic after a gap of 15 years in 2011 in the movie English Vinglish.   She played many versatile roles in all the language and attained a status of super star in female actors.  She won Nandi Award for her role in Kshanakshanam by RGV.  She won many other awards from the States of AP, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and other wards from Filmfare, Stardust, NDTV, India Today and many more.

Vyjayanthi Mala was born on 13th August 1936 turned 76 today.  She became Vyjayanthi Mala Bali after marrying Chamanlal Bali in 1968.  Her mother Vasundhara Devi also was a renowned actress in Tamil.

Vyjayanthi Mala is a trained classical dancer and performed at Vatican City before Pope Pius XII at the age of 5 accompanied by her mother.   She performed classical dance programs in Tamil Nadu.

Vyjayanthi Mala acted in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Hindi films.  She became famous with magnum opus “Nagin”.   She received many Filmfare and other awards during her film career.

She joined politics in 1984 supporting Congress Party.  She was nominated for Rajyasabha in 1993 for tenure of six years and in 1999 she resigned from the primary membership of the Congress Party to join BJP.

Sridevi and Vyjayanthi Mala has another thing in common that is the movie based on a serpent “Nagina” and “Nagin” and both were hit movies and earned them acclaims.
