Madhur Bhandarkar has always been popular for the way he addreses his crew with funny names at times. Heroine movie was no different. Kareena had not only won laurels for her perfect shots for the movie on the sets by also a new sobriquet, Bai. A source said, "Madhur would address Bebo as Bai...'Has Bai come?' or 'Tell Bai the shot is ready'."

Bebo, has not taken the shot as positively as Madhur intended her to. However she took no offense too. Speaking on the same issue, she diplomatically said, "The word in Marathi is used as a very powerful term. Actually it is associated with respect. Madhur and I share a very good rapport. He is a friend. I usually don't become friends with my directors. But Madhur is different."

She also mentioned that Madhur Bhandarkar was on her list of directors she wanted to work with after Chandni Bar.

Madhur however had a different reason for using the monicker as he justified it by saying, "Bai suits Kareena as it stands for a strong woman."
