NZ defeat India in the second ODI

India has registered their second loss in the bilateral series against New Zealand. Having won the toss, skipper Dhoni elected to field first. NZ though lost two early wickets, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor ensure no loss of wickets till 33rd over. But rain stopped the play for an hour or so and the umpires have restricted the match to 42 overs. After resuming the play, NZ batsman thrashed Indian bowlers and posted a total of 271 runs with end of 42 overs.

According to the Duckworth and Lewis (D/L) method India were supposed to chase 297 runs in 42 overs.

Indian opener again failed in this series. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma were dismissed for low scores of 12 and 20. Vice captain Virat Kohli continued his superb form and score a half century. He along with Ajinkya Rahane tried to chase but NZ bowlers stuck at the right time. Then came Dhoni who took promotion. Just when India was looking good Virat was dismissed and later on Indian batsman tumbled. As a result India lost the match by 15 runs
