India to retain supremacy, England to regain honours

India to retain supremacy, England to regain honoursIndia's thumping 126-run triumph over England at Hyderabad in the opening game, should seek to maintain their supremacy as they go into the second cricket one-dayer against England on Monday with the focus on grooming the young brigade, at the Ferozeshah Kotla, Kolkatta. But clearly the visiting team, who excelled in the format of the game, shall try all ways to make amends to get back in the series.

But the series of events from the World Cup Victory to the colossal disenchantment in the English tour was so quick and hard to digest for this country of cricket fanatics. Ofcourse the victory in the start was a bit of solace for the diehard fans and a morale-booster for the team. But to rekindle their enthusiasm in this sport Team India must work hard in the ongoing series and remain at its peak.

With Gautam Gambhir returning to the team and the heartening feature of a blistering knock by captain Dhoni, in the first match, ascertains that the hosts have a decent batting line up. Next in the lineup are Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli both of whom are regarded as highly-talented ODI players.

Clearly, the pressure will be on England who has never really excelled in sub-continental conditions where the balls tend to keep low. But this English team has shown a lot of character and is fully capable of bouncing back in the series as they have a host of quality batsmen and bowlers.

The toss will be crucial considering the dew factor that may come into play in the day-night encounter. In case there is dew, the team bowling second may find it difficult to grip the ball. The match is poised evenly at the moment, with both teams fiercely competing for honours and play shall commence at 2.30pm (IST).
