The DC Avanti is one of the most awaited launches that are the first made-in-India sports car. The company will deliver the cars on first-come-first-serve basis i.e. the folks who opted for early-bird bookings will get the Avanti first. DC Avanti has received a total of 762 confirmed bookings till date, which speaks volumes about the India's penchant for sports cars. The company has already initiated the process with the first batch of 25 cars are set to be handed over to customers this month.
Avanti measures 4,550mm in length, 1,965mm in width and 1,200mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 170mm. Avanti might be the perfect car for Indian driving conditions. The body of the sports car has several carbon-fibre components developed by the company's in-house engineers.
Powering the Avanti is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, mounted between the back of the seat and the rear wheels. It produces a peak power output of 248bhp along with 241Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
Safety features like Anti-lock braking system (ABS), developed by Continental, will be offered as standard equipment. The car is expected to be priced between Rs. 25 lakh - 35 lakh. The total cost will eventually be decided by the level of customization buyers opt for. Moreover, DC Designers say that they do not wish for any two cars to look alike, hence customers will be able to choose from a palette of 40,000 exterior colours and 4,000 interior trim levels.
Interior
DC Avanti is a two seated sports car manufactured with leather. This material is used on the doors, dashboard, seats and space between the seats. The instrument cluster, steering wheel and more noticeably AC and all basic units have leather.
Exterior
The headlamps of Avanti are bi-xenon units while there are LED DRLS shaped like eyebrows for the headlamps. For massive air intake, a bunch of foils are designed at the back of DC Avanti. It also has a long and low bonnet that dips in the middle giving prominence to the DC Logo and a single air vent located on top.
Engine & Gearbox
DC Avanti is equipped with a Ford EcoBoost 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine. It is capable of generating 250bhp of power at the rate of 360Mn torque. It has been mated to a six speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
