Yahoo! overtakes Google

Considered an achievement, Yahoo has overtaken Google for the month of July 2013. The number of website visitors in the US recorded for the month were found to have preferred Yahoo! more over Google.

In July, Yahoo visitors were recorded at 197 million individuals, while Google visitors were 192 million. This is the second time the firm outperformed Google after May 2011. The success was attributed to chief executive Marissa Mayer, who was an ex-employee of Google.

Changes introduced under the guidance of Mayer have catapulted Yahoo to the top position. Efforts to revamp the home page, e-mail and weather services have worked out for the firm. Yahoo has made this difference even without counting visitors to Tumblr, the company's newly acquired blogging platform.

This trend seems to spell a positive outlook for Yahoo, which has struck back after a brief lull.
