Modi Make in India, a step ahead

On Thursday, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigned in the U.S. to attract capital to the country and also to boost the ‘Make in India’ initiative, which was held amidst of eight VIPs, in the key financial hub across the world.

Warburg Pincus’ Charles Kaye, AIG Insurance CEO Peter Hancock, General Atlantic CEO Bill Ford, Tiger Global Managing Partner Chase Coleman, KKR Co-CEO Henry Kravis and NY State Common Retirement Fund’s Vicki Fuller and Blackstone’s Steve Schwarzman, are the participants along with Jamie Dimon, CEO and president of JP Morgan.

Speaking after the meeting, Vikas Swarup, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said, “They control billions of dollars of investment and the opportunity to interact directly with the Prime Minister has given them further confidence in India. Modi answered to the investors’ concerns and assured them with the proper resolution soon. Especially, the financial sector leaders flagged red tape, slow pace of deregulation, and unpredictable tax regimes, as their main concerns.”

“Modi just not stops listening to the issues, but even responds to it and assures the possible help soon,” a senior executive said. A few of the officials opined that, India has actually started financial sector reforms now, that too with the support of a right leader like Modi.  

Along with Make in India, Modi even participated in a dinner for Fortune 500 companies and interact in a roundtable format with 15 leaders of the media industry, assembled by NewsCorp head Rupert Murdoch.

PM Modi is even scheduled to have a separate meeting with U.S. CEO Marillyn A Hewson, defence manufacturer Lockheed Martin Corporation, even as both countries are hoping to enhance bilateral cooperation in the sector.

Along with the above, the dinner with CEO will again be focused on the Indian manufacturing sector, interaction with the media sector, would focus on using communication technologies, to assist the country’s developmental initiatives.

On September 26th and 27th, Modi will travel to the hub of the global technology industry, Silicon Valley, with an intention of promoting a start-up culture in the country.

All the above, Modi will have an interesting meet with the leading companies CEOs like,   Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook individually and interact with many more as per the requirement.
