BP Acharya denied bail by CBI court

The Nampally CBI special court in Hyderabad today dismissed the bail petition of the suspended IAS officer BP Acharya, accused number one in the Emaar-APIIC land scam. Mr Acharya has been presently lodged in the Chanchalguda jail as an ordinary under trial prisoner.

During the hearing, the CBI vehemently opposed his bail plea saying he might influence the witnesses, threaten them and manipulate the evidences in the case if released on bail. “He knows the entire scam details and he even suppressed an important report,” argued the CBI counsel.

The court also adjourned hearing till Feb 21 and Feb 13 on the bail pleas of Vijayasai reddy, accused in the illegal properties case involving the YSR congress party chief YS Jaganmohan reddy and Koneru Rajendra Prasad, accused in the APICC-Emaar land scam respectively. (JUBS)
