Komatireddy shifted to NIMS, continues fast

Former Minister Komatireddy Venkatareddy is continuing his fast in the NIMS hospital in Hyderabad demanding an immediate announcement on the formation of the Telangana state.

Komatireddy has been fasting since Nov 1 at the Telangana Chourasta in Nalgonda for Telangana but police arrested him and took him to the NIMS in the early hours of Sunday. However, the former Minister is continuing his fast at the hospital.

Several congress leaders including PCC chief Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, Jeevan reddy and others visited the hospital and requested Venkatareddy to call off his fast but he has refused to heed their requests. He made it clear he would continue to fast till Telangana is announced by the Centre.

Meanwhile, Telangana congress leader Mr K. Keshava rao said they have called for a bandh of Nalgonda district tomorrow protesting against the stance of the state government towards the fast of Komati reddy Venkatareddy.

The Telangana has announced its support to the bandh and warned RTC staff would again resort to indefinite strike if the Centre doesn’t announce Telangana state immediately.
