Police recover more gold coins from Kanugotla

PoliceGoldThe Mahaboobnagar police raided some houses in the Kanugotla village of Manavapadu Mandalam today and recovered more gold coins of the ancient times.

The police have recovered 135 gold coins today from the houses taking the total number of the recovered gold coins to 208. On the orders of the District Collector, they have recovered 73 gold coins from the villagers on Deepawali.

The ancient gold coins were found in paddy fields by some labourers during their working hours. The labourers bumped into earthen and copper pots containing the ancient gold coins when they were weeding out the unwanted plants. Stunned at the finding, they have distributed the booty among themselves and tried to keep it a secret.

While some of them left the village fearing police raids, some of them are still in the village trying to convince the police that they didn’t find any gold coins.

However, some of the villagers leaked the discovery to the police and the district collector ordered them to confiscate the gold coins. The archeological department is trying to establish their period.
