Merger for achieving social justice: PRP

PRP senior leader C. Ramachandraiah said today that his party, which aimed at achieving social justice as announced earlier, has realized that it was not in a position to realize its ambition Congress, PRP, Merger, Social justice, PRP senior leader C. Ramachandraiah single-handedly and decided to merge their party with congress as per the invitation extended to it by the congress high command.

Speaking at a media conference in Hyderabad after a meeting of the PRP MLAs and senior leaders, Ramachandraiah said that the meeting has authorized Chiru to take a decision on the issue and talk to congress president Sonia Gandhi on the merger modalities.

“Chiru will meet Sonia during this week in Delhi and discuss the proposals related to the invitation of merger. Later, PRP MLAs and senior leaders will meet again and take a final decision after discussing the proposals,” he disclosed.

He said that both congress and PRP have been discussing the idea of working together for a long time and the proposal is not new. “Just because one or two leaders are opposing it, no one can stop us from working together,” Ramachandraiah clarified.

He also said it was true that one or two leaders of PRP made harsh comments against the congress at the time of elections but that also could not prevent the PRP from becoming closer to congress.
