Just a day after filing its FIR relating to the Adarsh Society scam, the top investigating agency in the country, CBI, conducted raids at the premises of Retired Brigadier M M Wanchoo and Congress leader K L Gidwani.Sleuths from the CBI raided the premises of ex-Congress MLC Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, Brigadier M Wanchu. Simultaneously, one of the promoters of Adarsh scam, R C Thakur's residence at Nagpur has been seized by the CBI.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan was named, the agency conducted raids on Sunday on three of the accused.

The CBI after having taken up the case in November last year also named the former Chief Minister, Ahok Cavan, as the prime accused in its FIR.  

The plush housing society, built on prime defence land has been constructed in breach of rules. The building was originally meant to be a six-storey structure to house Kargil war heroes and their kin but was later extended to 31 floors without mandatory permission from the BMC.

The Adarsh society is charged with violating the CRZ norms, apart from managing illegal clearances from various authorities to be able to change the original development plan.The name of the then collector of Mumbai also figured in the FIR for his alleged involvement in ratifying 71 persons in the society of which several were ineligible members. His wife Seema Vyas is alleged to acquired  a flat in the society.
