Bengaluru is silk capital!

Sometimes we get our costumes designed but usually, I design all the costumes for most of our performances. Earlier we had to source material from Delhi, but Bengaluru has definitely emerged as the silk capital of India.

Commercial Street is the place to go shopping for any kind of material. Be it organza, silk, poly silk, cotton or any other natural fabric. I buy all the materials from here. Salonee, Diamond Plaza and Pooja collections are the stores I frequently visit.

For the embellishments, embroidered motifs and borders, we had to go to Avenue Road and Raja Market earlier, but now Commercial Street has shops that have varieties of such attachments.

City Market is the only place we go to for ghungroo. We get pearls and beads strung at 18th cross in Malleswaram that has many small shops and they do a good job.

In fact, when we are under pressure to finish our costume-shopping, we visit Malleswaram. Since I am very particular about buying the right kind of organic fabric for the costumes that are washed very often, I prefer Commercial Street.
