Renault Kwid 1.0 Gets Launch Date Announced

Renault Kwid is a beautiful entry-level hatchback that has been a charm in terms of sales and likeability since its launch. So, Renault is all set to launch the 1.0-litre version of the successful hatchback on August 22. The hatchback was featured at the 2016 Auto Expo back in February.

Just as all of us await the launch, the bookings have also begun at the French car manufacturer's showrooms, across the whole of India. The initial amount has been marked at Rs. 10,000, paying which the bookings can be made. After the launch, deliveries will commence by September first week.

The 1.0-litre version of the new Renault Kwid will be powered by a 1,000 cc, three-cylinder petrol mill, which will likely make around 70 bhp, getting transferred to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. Besides the mechanical upgrade, cosmetic enhancements are also expected. The 1.0-litre Kwid will also be seen running on alloy wheels, while it will also sport the "SCe" badge to mark the engine displacement of the hatchback.

On the safety front, driver and passenger side airbags will be available as standard across all trims, while the 800 cc model comes only with driver side airbag in the top-spec trim, which is also optional. Along with rear power windows, fibers, plastics, fabrics and upholstery will all be made premium with better quality.

The 1.0-litre version of the Kwid may also be made available in six colour options in addition to the existing five. Touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth Connectivity, better speakers, full-digital instrument console, etc. are also expected as segment-first features.

The Alto K10, Hyundai Eon, Tata Tiago, Wagon R and Celerio might face or pose stiff competition from or to the new 1.0-litre Kwid, while the 800 cc Kwid has been a runaway success for the Renault. So, the French manufacturer will further up the ante by developing an Easy-R AMT equipped trim to take on the Alto K10 AMT and the soon-to-be-launched Tata Tiago AMT.
