Indian Cabbie Attacked By Couple In Australia:- In an alleged racist attack, a 25-year old Indian-born taxi driver was assaulted by a couple in Australia, Tasmania.

The driver, speaking to a leading news channel, who said he was not allowed to disclose his name due to legal proceedings, narrated his horrific ordeal.

The driver said he had picked up the couple on Friday night around 10.30 pm and was heading to a McDonald's drive-thru. According to him, the woman allegedly kept opening the door to throw up even though he kept warning her about other cars. The couple in a fit of rage, alleged the driver, started kicking the car and abused him with racial slurs.

The female passenger reportedly referred to the driver as “bloody Indian” and “You f****** Indian”, while the male passenger repeatedly punched and kicked him. The cab driver is currently being treated at a hospital.

After several minutes, some pedestrians reportedly jumped in to help the driver and called the police and ambulance. The police have not checked CCTV footage from the drive-thru, which could have helped identify the couple alleged the victim.

Another witness has come forward to testify on behalf of the cab driver and has presented a video footage of the incident.

The driver who is studying hospitality, told that he will no longer continue the profession “because it’s so dangerous”. It is the third attack on an Indian taxi driver in Australia in less than a year.

Indian cabbie Li Max Joy was assaulted by four teenagers in the Argyle St McDonald’s in the early hours of March 25 and a third driver was assaulted by four men in June last year.
